Yes, the capital basis reported on your K-1 can become negative. I do not know if KMP does that (I will find out in a few weeks when I get my 2009 K-1), but I know that at least some other MLPs do this...

"There is no tax due either year. KMP is a M.L.P. which means you get a "partnership distribution" instead of a dividend. The distribution just lowers your cost basis for capital gains tax...
